A historic home in La Jolla’s prestigious ‘Lower Hermosa’ neighborhood was carefully remodeled into a very comfortable home for the family of 5 that lives there.  The original concept of the home could hardly be improved upon.  In the end the home maintained its original spirit while adding volume and light to the everyday rooms that back in the 1920′s were not such a big part of daily life.  The kitchen, family and breakfast rooms were updated and relocated to take advantage of the ocean views while the previous kitchen was transformed into a detached guest quarters which creates a privacy barrier from the street and backdrop to the interior family room courtyard where most of the actual day to day living occurs.  The original massing concept was maintained as was the one story element on the south wing of the interior courtyard allowing light to flood into every room in the home.  Fabio has enjoyed visiting this home and family several times since the project was completed.
